Crop when: The background is distracting or irrelevant, you're making a profile picture or avatar, or the photo has a clear subject that you want to focus on.
Fill (blur/color) when: It's a group photo where everyone matters, a landscape with important context, or you simply don't want to lose any part of the image.
Simple test: If cropping away the edges makes you feel like you're losing an important part of the story, use Fill instead. Crop mode also produces the smallest file size since it removes pixels rather than adding background.
Print shops need 300 DPI (dots per inch). 6×6 inches × 300 = 1800×1800px minimum.
Our default 1200px is only good for 4×4 inch prints. For 8×8 inch or larger: Use Custom size and set 2400px.
Most phone cameras output 3000-4000px, so cropping to 2400px won't lose quality. Common mistake: Using 1200px for large prints — the result looks soft and blurry when printed.
